Bio

Freya Najade (born in Germany) is a photographer living and working in London. In 2009 she received a Masters Degree with Distinction in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from the University of the Arts London (London College of Communication). Since her graduation she works on personal long-term projects and on commissions for clients such as Google, Burberry Foundation, Deutsche Bahn and the Photographer's Gallery. 

Freya’s work has been shown nationally and internationally and was selected for FORMAT 13, the Renaissance Photography Prize, the Foto8 Summer Show, the FotoGrafia Festival Rome and the IPA Awards, among others. Publications of her work include The Guardian, the British Journal of Photography (BJP), The Times, Die Zeit, Businessweek and Photoworld China. 

Freya's portfolio has won the Moo Award in Format Festival's International Portfolio Review and her series Jazorina the Gold Award at London Offspring Photo Meet. Strawberries in Winter and Jazorina have been nominated for the fifth and sixth cycle of Prix Pictet, respectively. Freya has been finalist of the Environmental Photographer of the Year Award and has been one of the Top50 Critical Mass Finalists. Her first monograph Jazorina has been published by Kehrer Verlag in May 2016 and her new book Along the Hackney Canal will be published by Hoxton Mini Press this September.
